Harriet Fleming MMus MSc MA (Cantab)

Founder and Co-Ordinator of the School, Harriet Fleming has developed Stormont School of SInging into an innovative music school which provides high quality, arts experiences to people from all walks of life. Harriet aims to nurture each individual, helping them to build their confidence, explore new ideas, learn skills, find their own hidden talent and develop friendships with others who share the same musical interests. Above all, the School aims to give all our students the chance to fulfil their potential and enjoy their learning experience.

Professional Mezzo-Soprano Harriet has built up a far reaching performance portfolio, having performed throughout Ireland and the UK. Notable performances include those with NI Opera and the Ulster Orchestra, performances on RTE and Radio Ulster alongside Concert work.

Harriet attained her Music Masters degree in 2010 from University College Dublin, and is a graduate of the University of Cambridge where she performed at various prestigious venues throughout Europe and the UK as a Choral Scholar, following recommendation by renowned Conductor, Composer and Lecturer Prof. Richard Marlow.

In 2012 Harriet was invited to write a feature review of the ISM Conference in London, which was later published by ISM and she recently performed live and was interviewed by James Toal on BBC Ulster's "Sounds Classical" programme.

Her teaching experience includes work in schools in Belfast and North Down, and many of her students have successfully auditioned for lead roles in productions in the Grand Opera House, the MAC and elsewhere. Students have also won television roles, attained places on University Music Courses, and been accepted into Ulster Youth Choir and National Youth Music Theatre. Harriet also has mentored several students through their Music Degree Performance Exams. Notably two of Harriet's students have been successful in gaining Choral Scholarships with the University of Cambridge and in 2017 one student was awarded a coveted prize from ABRSM after attaining the highest mark in all of Ireland (across all instruments) in her Grade 7 ABRSM Examination.
