Amy Fitzsimons BMus G.T.C.N.I

 

 

Amy Fitzsimons joined the Teaching team at Stormont School of Singing in 2013 and has demonstrated herself to be a popular and engaging Teacher with students attaining exceptional results. 

 

Amy is a Graduate of the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where she performed throughout her undergraduate studies in various choral, band, and operatic productions as a singer, oboist and  technical crew member. She earned a young artist spot with the Opera in the Ozarks company in Eureka Springs, Arkansas  prior to completing her degree, where she performed roles in mainstage productions of Gianni Schicchi and Suor Angelica and was featured as Death in a workshop performance of Stravinsky's Le Rossignol.
 

Amy has previously performed with the Knoxville Opera Company for eleven seasons while working full time as a school music teacher and adult church choir leader.  She was frequently featured as an oratorio soloist around the Knoxville area and as part of the annual Rossini Festival.  As an ensemble singer, she was involved in two performances at the prestigious Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston South Carolina and sang with the Kronos Quartet at the Tennessee Theatre.


In 2010, Amy moved to Belfast where she accepted a part time teaching post at the Holywood Steiner School.  She has recently taken on the role as program director of Peace Through Music Northern Ireland, a project supported by the Shropshire Music Foundation. Her passion is bringing the joys of music into the lives of individuals of all ages and walks of life.
